Water Castles are a Real Thing! Cute Little Schloß Mespelbrunn

| October 10, 2014

In Germany, you’ll find several water castles.  They’re completely surrounded by water, and they’re just plain cool to see.  Just an hour southeast of Frankfurt is one such castle: Mespelbrunn. During a 40-minute tour, you can learn about the castle, the owners’ family histories, and a bit about life over the past few centuries.  We took a German-language tour (there was no English that day), but the tour guide was happy to translate key points or answer our questions.

I seriously want to live in this tower

A swan glides around the moat – as if the place wasn’t romantic enough

After our tour, we grabbed a quick bite at the restaurant on property.
