Esslingen’s Medieval Christmas Market

The Esslingen Medieval Christmas market is easily a full weekend event, with its market stalls extending in every direction against a medieval city backdrop. It became a favorite within minutes of arriving. It runs daily from 25NOV-21DEC, and you just can’t see it all in one day!

christmas pyramid — A typical Christmas pyramid presides over the Marktplatz, this one atop a Gleuwein stand.

christmas market esslingen — In one workshop, kids decorate gingerbread houses; in another, they can create candles

mouse roulette — Medieval games like “Mouse Roulette” are scattered around the market. Whose house will this little guy run into?

medieval — Medieval performers play their instruments as they walk through town.

live nativity scene — Live animals at the nativity scene are a big hit with the kids.
