This is a town known for Christmas. Its market is robust: indoor and outdoor vendors, food or drink of some sort every few steps, rides, an impressive nativity scene, and, well, a Christmas museum. We didn’t have time to cattle chute through the Christmas museum. There’s a large Käthe Wohlfahrt shop in town as well; the company is headquartered in the city. Here’s a look at the market:
And Rothenberg od Tauber on a brighter day:
What we brought home from Rothenburg ob der Tauber: wood burned basket, small wooden ornament. We saw a wide variety of Christmas decorations and other works–jewelry, glassware, crafts made from gems–but we weren’t there to shop. This market definitely had plenty to offer!
Looking for a hotel in Rothenburg ob der Tauber?
Totally getting excited about all the Christmas markets!
People who have never been in Germany during Advent just have no idea how amazing the time of year is here. Soon I’ll be posting our lineup for this year’s markets. Every time I look at the post, I get excited and want December to come NOW.
