Discussions on My Journey to Racial Equity Coming Soon

0 0

I’m letting my readers know that I’m going to start using this space not only as a travelogue and language blog, but also to add my perspective (as a White woman) to the discussions about racial equity, in the hopes that we can progress.

Karilogue was not intended to be a political blog, but equity is not political. Sure, the discussions for how to tackle inequity include politics, but no, racial equity is not politics–it’s a basic human value.

My hope is that you will continue to read my thoughts and also seek out Black voices to hear the thoughts of Black men and women directly; and also seek out Native American voices, Latinx voices, LGBTQ+ voices, and the many voices that aren’t the same as yours. I think seeking out voices is super important for those who don’t have a large frame of reference outside of their own White communities.

I’ll do my best to provide resources that I have found valuable in my journey. I’m hoping that some of the folks in the White community who recently have thought to themselves, “Holy crap, Why was I not seeing this?” will join me as I continue in my journey.

I recently posted some thoughts on Unlearning what you’ve been taught about racial equality.

I continue to live by this mantra and invite you to do so, too.

“The man who views the world at 50 the same as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.”

-Muhammad Ali
