Every year, Heppenheim hosts a one-day market, Nikolausmarkt, where the whole town gathers, drinks Gluühwein, and supports local businesses, all at the base of a castle that sits atop the vineyards of the Bergstrasse. It’s a gorgeous town filled with stunning Fachwerk. The market ran all day and night, then was gone by morning!
This isn’t the type of market where foreigners will find great gifts and souvenirs. This is an event you enjoy just for the atmosphere. Since Heppenheim is in a wine region, there were all kinds of hot wine drink stands.
