In Germany, you’ll find several water castles. They’re completely surrounded by water, and they’re just plain cool to see. Just an hour southeast of Frankfurt is one such castle: Mespelbrunn. During a 40-minute tour, you can learn about the castle, the owners’ family histories, and a bit about life over the past few centuries. We took a German-language tour (there was no English that day), but the tour guide was happy to translate key points or answer our questions.
After our tour, we grabbed a quick bite at the restaurant on property.
